Ashton created this charming pas de deux for the Royal Opera’s 1977 production of Johan Strauss II’s operetta Die Fledermaus
2. Romeo and Juliet balcony pas de deux (Macmillan).
Yasmie Naghdi & Matthew Ball.
MacMillan made his famous balcony pas de deux for Canadian TV. When it was finished, he went on to choreograph the rest of the ballet for the Covent Garden stage.
3. La Sylphide (Bournonville)
Takada & Joseph Sissens
Filippo Taglioni’s La Sylphide was premiered in Paris in 1932 and was the very first Romantic ballet. Bournonville made his own version just four years later in Copenhagen, not only with new choreography but also with completely different music.
